Reasons
for this Unofficial Reunion:
This
"Unofficial Reunion" was announced early in the summer that
it would take place this Fall. Several people have questioned the
timing and reason considering there is an "Official Reunion"
in the planning stage. There is no political reasoning behind this
event. Several people here in Texas have indicated they wanted to
get together during the cooler season and camp out just for the fun
of it. This is a casual, come-as-you-are event. Just throw your stuff
in a car, truck, vehicle and come.
We
understand people want to come for this event and some inevetibly
will feel left out. If you aren't able to come because of the late
notice, then mark it next year on your calender, you now have 13 months
advanced notice. The next unofficial reunion will occur around the
same part of November as this one approaching, the first or second
weekend in November. October is still hot here in Texas and with the
holidays approaching, there is little choice of weekends, unless we
would like to have it in hot weather. We are just expecting a handful
of people at this time but it is unfair for those anticipating this
event through the summer to cancel for those unable to attend. We
have a couple of people outside of Texas coming. We really do not
know what to expect of this but should prove to be a blast.
We
have had more energy in this alumni project than has been involved
with the corps in several years. This event is important to keep the
energy flowing. We cannot stagnate less the fire die down. If we have
one Official and one Unofficial reunion each year everyone will eventually
be able to participate quickly with each reunion building upon the
last.
I
personally would like to see a yearly Fall event, camping out and
just enjoying some cooler weather for a change, casual event, little
structure, good music, good food and good drinks. Each year we can
build on the last year's success and it should become more fun and
attract more people.
